Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NumberAlive ("NumberAlive," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit numberalive.com, create an account, use our dashboard or API, or contact us.
1. Scope and our role
This policy applies to website visitors, customers, the people who use customer accounts, and people who contact us. Our customers are businesses.
Customers upload or send us phone numbers and related information about their own contacts so we can check them. For that contact information, the customer decides why and how it is used, and NumberAlive acts as a service provider or processor on the customer's behalf. If your phone number is in a customer's list, contact that business to exercise rights over how it uses your information.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Account information, such as your name, email address and password. Passwords and API keys are stored only as one-way hashes.
- Billing information, such as purchases, credit balance and transaction history, and the brand and last four digits of a saved card. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers or security codes.
- Customer data, such as the lists you upload, the phone numbers in them and any other columns in your files, and the results we return: line type, carrier, whether a number is deactivated, suspended, a landline, a VoIP number, on a litigator or do-not-call list, a duplicate, and any details you chose to add, such as time zone or location.
- API and usage information, such as the requests you make, credits used, rate-limit events, and the options you choose.
- Device and log information, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, dates and times, sign-in events and diagnostic logs.
- Communications, including emails to support and other correspondence with us.
3. How we collect information
We collect information from you directly; automatically through the website, dashboard and API; from the data providers and carriers that return results; and from our payment processor. Customers must have every right and permission required to give us the contact data they upload.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide, secure and improve the service, sign you in and administer your account;
- run the checks you ask for and return and store the results;
- process payments, including auto top-up when you turn it on, and keep billing records;
- send account and service emails, such as password resets and payment notices;
- provide support, monitor errors and abuse, and keep the service reliable;
- comply with law and enforce our terms, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We may use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify a person to understand and improve the service.
5. How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We disclose information only to:
- Service providers that host the service, process payments, deliver email, and run the carrier, line-type, litigator and do-not-call checks. To perform a check, a phone number is sent to the data provider that runs it.
- Our staff, who may view the app as a customer, read-only and for support, only when needed. Each of these views is logged and shown in the customer's Activity page.
- Authorities and other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect rights, safety and security, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements.
- Mobile information. We do not share mobile opt-in data or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We share it only with vendors that help us deliver messages or provide customer service, and only for that purpose.
- Participants in a transaction such as a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of all or part of our business, under appropriate confidentiality protections.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use only the cookies the service needs: one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers your light or dark theme choice. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics scripts on the service. You can block cookies in your browser, but blocking the essential ones will stop sign-in from working. Our Cookie Policy lists each one.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your lists, result files and the contacts created from them in your account until you delete them. You can delete a list yourself at any time, which removes its files. Contacts remain until you ask us to delete them or to close your account; email [email protected] and we will act on the request. We keep billing, security and audit records for as long as the law and our legitimate business needs require, including to resolve disputes and prevent fraud. Information may remain in routine backups until they are replaced.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, one-way hashing of passwords and API keys, access controls and logging. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your password and API keys and for telling us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can update your name and password in your account settings and delete your lists in the dashboard. Depending on where you live, and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information, and to appeal our decision. We may verify your identity before acting on a request. An authorized agent may make a request for you where the law allows and may be asked to show proof of authority. We respond within the time the law allows, generally 45 days, and we do not treat anyone differently for exercising a privacy right.
Send requests to [email protected], or see Your Privacy Choices. If your request is about a business that uploaded your phone number to our service, contact that business first; we will help our customer respond as the law requires.
10. Children's privacy
The service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has given us personal information.
11. International use
The service is operated from the United States and checks US and Canadian phone numbers. If you use it from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other places where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we may also tell you in the service or by email.
13. Contact us
