Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy explains what NumberAlive may and may not be used for. It is part of our Terms of Service, and it applies to the dashboard, the API and every result we return.
1. What NumberAlive is for
NumberAlive helps businesses keep their contact lists clean: removing numbers that cannot be reached, flagging numbers that carry legal risk, and adding details such as carrier, line type and time zone. Use it to make your outreach more accurate and more compliant, for contacts you have a lawful reason to reach.
2. Results do not make outreach lawful
A clean list is not consent. You remain responsible for obtaining and documenting consent, honoring opt-outs and do-not-call requests, and following the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Telemarketing Sales Rule, state telemarketing and texting laws, and carrier rules. Litigator and do-not-call results reduce risk; they are not clearance to contact anyone.
3. Prohibited uses
You may not use NumberAlive or its results to:
- harass, stalk, threaten, locate or identify a person, or to target people for unlawful discrimination;
- contact numbers you know are on a do-not-call list, or that have opted out, without a lawful basis;
- check lists you do not have the right to use, including lists that were scraped, bought in breach of their terms, or collected without required notice;
- generate or test numbers by enumeration, or build a database of numbers from our results;
- decide eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any similar purpose, or as a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute results, or power a competing lookup or verification service, without a written agreement with us;
- support fraud, spam, phishing, robocall campaigns or any other unlawful activity.
4. Protecting the service
Do not probe, scan or test the security of NumberAlive, interfere with other customers, or bypass rate limits, credit checks, billing or access controls. Keep API keys on your server and out of browsers, apps and public code. Share an account only with people in your own organization.
5. Enforcement
If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may warn you, limit or suspend an API key or account, refuse service, or end your account under our Terms of Service. Where the law requires it, or to protect people from harm, we may report activity to the authorities.
6. Reporting misuse
If you believe someone is misusing NumberAlive, email [email protected] with what you saw. We review every report.
